Import your pre-existing licensing data into SLM

Many users will have an existing database of license information that they would like to import into LANDesk Management Suite's Software License Monitoring tool. The LDMS Console uses XML to import and export data, and there is in fact a button to do this, "Import XML License Data", second from the right. However, that method assumes that you've already created products and grouped them into compliance groups, and it also relies on an exact match with the product name (including spaces). This script will create products in a compliance group automatically, meaning that the only remaining step is to map files to products.

It does not have to be run on the LANDesk Management Suite core; any machine will do. The resulting xml files can be imported using the Import button, fifth from the right. The chunk option is worth investigating, it causes the output to be built as many separate files, and is useful for isolating a bad record. Import failures produce no useful error messages, so use the chunk option to get as much data in as you can.

Latest version is here.
