Adding Gateway to your Agents

How to Introduce your agents after you've added a Management Gateway

If you've added your gateway after distributing a bunch of agents, you'll need to introduce them to the gateway. Agents built and distributed after the gateway should have this done automatically, but it won't hurt to hit them with this script too.

  1. Target the devices that should use the gateway. I like to use "Computer"."System"."Chassis Type"="Portable" or "Notebook" or "Laptop" or "whatever your vendor calls laptops".
  2. Schedule the Managed Script "Create Management Gateway Certificate" to that query. Tell it to re-run every day until you don't have any targets. Or, you can just copy the script command into a .BAT distribution job and use a policy. For extra super fanciness, use ldms_client to detect the machines that already have a gateway configured ("LANDesk Management"."Broker Configuration Mode" EXISTS).
  3. Target them with the autogateway.vbs script so that remote control will behave more predictably. Automate Laptop Remote Control Mode
