Disabling the PXE Rep's Built-in TFTP Server
This document will discuss how to disable the PXE Representative's built-in TFTP server.
Overview
The LANDesk PXE Representative's built-in TFTP server is not used by default. The TFTP server is part of the MTFTP service, however, the TFTP server can be disabled while the MTFTP server continues to function. This will allow for the use of an alternate TFTP server without interfering with the current MTFTP services and without affecting LANDesk default PXE configuration.
Once the PXE Rep's built-in TFTP service is disabled, any alternate TFTP server can be used.
If the goal is to replace the built-in TFTP server for use in PXE Booting, it is recommended that a tftp server that can run as a service be used.
Disabling The PXE Representative's Built-in TFTP Server
Disabling the PXE Rep's built-in TFTP server is very simple. Follow the following steps.
1. On the PXE Rep, run C:\Program Files\LANDesk\PXE\System\PxeConfig.exe.
2. Right click on "Boot Server" and select "Configure Boot Server".

3. Check the box labeled "Stop the built-in TFTP Service".

3. Click OK and a pop up will appear.

4. Click Ok.
5. Restart the Intel PXE MTFTP Service on the PXE Representative.
The PXE Rep's built-in TFTP server is now disabled. Any other TFTP server may now be used on the PXE Rep.
This will not affect normal PXE booting as it uses MTFTP which will continue to function.
