How to make simple changes quickly

The best way to do this globally is with a Custom Vulnerability; this capability is present for LANDesk Management Suite stand-alone, without Security Suite or Patch Manager. If you just want to do it to a few machines, you can use scripts. An example of that process can be found in Maintenance Window Reboots.

  1. Go to Security and Patch Manager > Create Custom Definition.
  2. Fill in ID and Title
  3. Click Add to create a new rule, fill in the description and title. It's best practice to create separate rules for each platform that you want to work with.
  4. Select Platforms and optionally Products to filter the affected systems down.
  5. Select the registry condition that you DO NOT WANT. The logic here is to define who you want to make changes to, not who you've already made changes to.
  6. Under Patch Information, select This issue can be repaired without downloading a patch.
  7. Under Patch Install Commands, make the change you want.
  8. Save your changes, and right-click the Vulnerability; you have the option to create a repair job, or set autofix.
Without autofix, this is a two-step process; you must first scan systems for custom vulnerabilities, then repair them. With autofix, it is a one-step process. In either case, you should schedule a scan job to start the process.
