Future Features for LDMS_Client

Please feel free to comment on this blog or email irishmn76@droppedpackets.org to suggest additional features or to support features.  The more feedback you give the easier it is to know what needs to be worked on next.

Currently being worked for 3.2:

  • Windows Local Scheduler Tasks – Thanks to Rob Fry
  • Able to specify other file extensions besides pst/ost.  Ones like .set and .prf – Thanks to Ryan Cheesman

Next things to work on:

  • Configuration of where the data gets put in the inventory tree
  • Modeling of the data so we don’t have to approve the unmoddeled data

It currently does not do that, but could be added. I’ll add that to the list.

One thing that I’ve required for a few customers is the ability to pull back the computers “AD Site Name” as opposed to it’s OU location. The customers that use this find it a more accurate way of finding out what is on each of their sites as it removes the human error of not moving the machine record into the relivant sites ou in AD. I’ve done this both in VBS and in batch however I cannot get the privledges correct in order to be able to run this through ldscnhlp.ini (ad user required for accessing the site info however at least local admin rights (which the local users don’t have) would be required to write the data to the dat file that ldscnhlp.ini reads).

Is anyone still working on this? Apparently 9.5 has changed a few things regarding inventory and the items are no longer input into the database.

Yes we can make changes to it if you see something not working for you. Can you tell me what is not working? What features you’re trying to use?
